Described as a mystery thriller, The Acolyte tells the story of a respected Jedi Master who investigates a series of crimes against him. The investigation uncovers dark secrets that lead to a conflict with a former Padawan as a result of this investigation.
The official synopsis of The Acolyte states: “In The Acolyte, a respected Jedi Master is challenged to take on a dangerous warrior from his past as part of an investigation into a shocking crime spree. In the course of discovering more clues, the team continues on a dark path, where sinister forces reveal that not all is as it seems.”
The show’s creator, Leslye Headland, revealed that the decision to set the show in the time period of the High Republic was based on her desire to avoid including any legacy characters from the Star Wars saga.
