Gladiator 2 release date: In 2024, it will be almost so many years since the film Gladiator was released to the world. Paramount Pictures will be bringing the movie back to the big screen with its highly anticipated sequel; Gladiator 2.
As soon as the trailer drops on the 9th July, fans of the historical masterpiece will finally be able to see Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal fighting it out in the role of the two stars of the movie.
In contrast to the original film, which starred Russell Crowe as the protagonist Maximus, the sequel is set years later and features a fresh cast that includes Paul, Pedro, Denzel Washington, and Stranger Things’ Joseph Quinn, which will serve as the new protagonist.

Those of you who watched the first Gladiator film will probably have already figured out that the sequel will not be following Russell’s character Maximus Meridius as he did in the first film.
The story of Gladiator 2 is said to be set 15 years after Maximus died in the arena and will follow the story of Lucius Verus, grandson of the former emperor of Rome.
The sequel of the first Gladiator will still be the same as you know and love from the original, so don’t fret if you’re not a fan of the changes.

In an attempt to save his life, Lucius is sent to Northern Africa after his family is overthrown and he is told that he will die there.
During his childhood, he had the opportunity to form a family of his own, but when the Roman empire began to encroach on the new continent, he was forced to become a slave and fight in the arena as a punishment for what he did.
As Maximus did before him, Lucius intends to use the way of the gladiator to avenge the death of his family as well as to challenge the overthrowing of the emperors Caracalla and Geta in order to avenge his family.
There are many aspects of Lucius’ childhood that will be touched upon in Gladiator 2, particularly his troubled relationship with his mother Lucilla, who was the one who sent him away to Africa to begin with.
