As part of the Elder Scrolls Online global reveal following the Xbox and Bethesda showcase held on January 27th, the cinematic trailer shown above was revealed as part of the Elder Scrolls Online global reveal. Instead of focusing solely on Necrom, the cinematic reveals that Necrom is a part of the wider saga of Shadow Over Morrowind, outlining his role in it. Towards the end of the trailer, we can see the return of the legendary daedric prince Hermaeus Mora, who will be part of the saga along with the new Arcanist class that will also be featured.
As you try to uncover the secrets masked up by greater powers, Mora, the daedric prince of knowledge, may play a bigger role than ever before in Necrom. It was revealed in Necrom that “there are hidden powers that threaten Mora’s realm of Apocrypha… and uncovering one of these secrets could unravel all of reality,” putting not just Tamriel, but the whole of Nirn, at risk. The player’s job is to stop this threat while being tested by Hermaeus Mora.
Players have been clamoring for a new playable character for class for some time now, and the Arcanist makes a huge appearance in the cinematic trailer and is an important part of the expansion as well.
Bringing this new storyline to life is the Arcanist, whose power is derived from knowledge and Apocrypha, so of course the archaeologist goes hand-in-hand with Hermaeus Mora to achieve their goals. This new class allows you to use runic magic for damage, healing, as well as moving, including summoning deadly tentacles from the Abyss and opening magical runic portals with the use of runic magic.
Apocryphal Soldier, Herald of the Tome, and Curative Reforms are the three skill lines that are available to you when playing the arcanist. In terms of which of these you choose to play, it will depend on your playstyle, since they are offensive, defensive, and supportive, respectively.
Despite whether or not you wish to play as The Arcanist, the new class will bring with it a wealth of new secrets, as well as new knowledge, to The Elder Scrolls Online which you will be able to uncover over time as you develop a relationship with Mora.
Elder Scrolls Online Necrom Release Date Update
It has been announced that the Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom will be released on PC and Mac on June 5, 2023, followed by the console release on June 20, 2023.

For the first time in ESO, players will be able to explore the Telvanni Peninsula located on the eastern edge of Morrowind, where the city of Necrom can be found.
