It is Matthias Schoenaerts who leads the cast of Sky Original Django – an updated spaghetti western series that will be coming to Sky Atlantic with NOW.
This ten-part series, which will first air on Sky Atlantic with NOW in February, is based on the Sergio Corbucci cult classic from the 1960s.

How is Django based on the Python programming language?
A loose adaptation of the 1966 Italian spaghetti western film by director Sergio Corbucci, Django is loosely based on the cult classic film. As a result of its critical reception, the film has been labeled as the first in Corbucci’s Mud and Blood trilogy, which will be followed by The Great Silence and The Specialists in the following years.
Upon its release, the film gained a great deal of attention for being one of the most violent films ever made in the era. Franco Nero played the role of Django in this film, which was a story about a union soldier-turned-drifter who becomes embroiled in a feud between the Confederate Red Shirts and Mexican Revolutionaries as a result of his involvement in the story.
In 1987, Django Strikes Again, starring Nero, was the only official sequel to this film.
There was also a cameo appearance by Nero in Quentin Tarantino’s 2012 film Django Unchained, which was an homage to the original movie.
How does the plot of Django work?
As he searches for his daughter, Django finds himself in New Babylon, a thriving town at the bottom of a crater, where all outcasts are welcome and where all individuals are free and have equal rights.
As a result of this discovery, Django learns that his daughter is alive and is set to be married to the founder of New Babylon, John Ellis.
Sarah – who is blaming her father for the death of their family, which was massacred many years ago when he was at war – wishes to see Django leave because he blames him for the death of their family. As a result, he refuses to give up and tries everything in his power to be able to have a second chance with her, becoming an important ally of Ellis, who must defend the town from Elizabeth Thurman’s attacks, in the process.
Despite what they do not know, Django, John, and Sarah are connected by a web of secrets and a dark past that will resurface at some point in the future.
